For those of you asking about CS6, the mixer brush tool is a better alternative and is only available in CS5 and up.

Argh, I see how it's supposed to work in CS3, but I'm used to the bells and whistles in CS6 now. I'm trying to figure out a way to get it working there, or at least a similar effect (the soft blending with the hard edge...blending is easy, hard edge...not so much).

THANKS!

Although this didn't work on CS6, I found other solutions to mimic yours and it was worth it. I've seen you and other artist use blending brushes before so I gave it a shot and it is amazing how efficient it is.

I actually just searched for 'nebezial blender brush' on google and it led me to a tut by a different person mimicking his for people that can't load it up. [link]
The tut is done on an older photoshop, but the settings are still the same for all versions of photoshop.

I'm using cs5 and it's all new for me. I don't understand why the brush remains black. I mean, it's like any normal round brush :( Could someone help me, please? >.<

I use CS5 and I've just about gotten the right effect if you turn the 'Strength' below 30%. Like I said, I've just figured this out now and will probably need to be changed a little to suit each time.

Oh my! :faint: This is perfect! Its strange that such a simple brush with simple settings can make all the difference!
This is what I've needed for so long- to blend softly and maintain hard edges all in one brush. :happycry: I've made several custom smudge brushes that I use all the time, but none keep the hard edge so well as this!

Thank you!! :worship:

I just discovered this and am using CS5....but all its doing when I select it with the smudge too is make small dots all over....not sure what I am doing wrong...where do I find under scattering, scatter radius 14 and scatter count 11... :/ Under brush presets, my only options under Scattering are Scatter, Control, Count, Count Jitter and control...

lower the strength on the brush down to about 30%. That should help it a bit.

Your in CS5. Above in the comments you will note it only works up until CS3. Coding in 4 and 5 is different so the brush glitches. Also in the comments was this dude. calisto-lynn.deviantart.com/ar... He has a mimic brush that works similar for cs5. Try that one.
