so here is a little insight into some of the techniques of creqting ravine, i use 3d to create models of things that will end up being shown in ridiculous numbers, like flights of dragons, legions of soldiers and so on, this leaves me with more time to tweak the pages to match the quality and detail level im striving for while keeping the scheduling under control
before i wouldnt dare to even try this but a year of videogame modelling got me a crapload of experience and confidence
these dragons are made in 3d studio max, exported into zbrush for detailing and map creation, then maps are tweaked in photoshop, and the whole thing is rendered in mental ray.
these are basic renders for now, sss material needs tweaking and also they need a specular map made, but all in due time, also obviously these arent rigged, im working on a basic poseable rig , and its working fine so far, so updates on that will come when they come.... im dreadfully busy XD
now i only have to make 14 more species of dragons, variations, saddles, beasts, warriors, shivas, sardaheims, and so on.... ugh...
It sounds like a job for an entire studio, but you are a lone artist! congratulations; y checked out your entire gallery and i gladly found your great interpretations of many of my favorites, thanks

I'm going to save my money for Z-brush or 3D-studio-max from now on...
