witchblade 123 cover by nebezial witchblade 123 cover by nebezial
cover to issue 123

apparently this cover needs more explanation for some people so here it goes this is the final part of the crown heights story arc cover , in thios story rara and gleason are investigating a series of murders committes in the hassidic comunity in crown heights, all signs point towards carribean comunity and sara and gleason are under preassure to wrap up the case quickly before tensions escalate once again.

by once again im talking about the real events that took place in crown heights
[link]

thing in the cover is a loa, voodoo deity summoned by someone with nefarious purposes.
this issue plants a seed for the big war of the witchblades arc comin up next

Great cover and great character! Will you ever, with Ron Marz, bring back this cool character / creature in the pages of Witchblade (Marinette Bwa Chech)? It's such a cool character! Fantasy creatures in contemporary world (ie New York in Witchblade) are great!

The only two critiques I have are that his (it actually looks like a she?) hair doesn't blend well... it looks as if the face is a mask and the hair is behind it, almost. The face is also a little lopsided/skewed.

Otherwise? Great work! I didn't get any Hitler vibes or anything. :/

This is disturbingly nazi?! Seriously? I could see where you were coming from if there was a giant swastika emblazoned on the piece, but its simply a monster along with a pentagram. Stop being paranoid.

actualy not nazi but voodoo, it has to do with the story of the issue how somebody is stirring up the old hate in crown heights between hassidic jewish comunity and jamaican

:iconwerehuntress:
werehuntress Featured By Owner Feb 4, 2009
Uh, Jamaican? Now thats something I disagree with because Jamaicans do NOT practice vodou. Its practiced by Haitians and Louisiana residents. Obeah [link] however is practiced rarely and clandestinely in Jamaica. Another thing, if you are referring to the assaulters how do you know that some were Jamaican? Nowhere in the wikipedia article does it mention Jamaicans. It says instead, Caribbean American and West Indians and the Caribbean consists of many islands.

Actually no I don't get the picture. I find rather insulting that you are so blithely and heedlessly misleading a bunch of other people who might not have know the differences between the two practices and then have such a casual response. Wouldn't you be a bit ticked off if someone who is potentially marketing their work to millions of people around the world make a mistake about your culture and then say "Oh i meant something else but they're basically all the same to me but you get the picture." Thats what I read out of your response, which I find utterly insulting.

ok to go further into detail, a villain summoned a voodoo godess to murder a rabbi ... goal , great conflict renewed in crown heights

hence star of david, 2 dolls represent sara and gleason, 2 characters in the comic, investigating the murders, pentagram of bones would miss the point on the story , star of david.... gets that point

The strings on the knife look too 2-D, and not like gravity is tugging them down.

The dude... Whatever... Might wish to have his arm back a bit, so it looks like he's pointing at the figures.

The hair doesn't blend with the head very well...

I suck at this "critique" stuff. D:

more people like you and people would show more progress, it doesnt take a genius to give a proper critique but a simple ability to turn into words what you see as wrong..
trust me ur good , i ve seen crits like, umm theres something off with this....real helpful
you clarify what u see and it is a sign of a good critique

You should probably know that MagenDavid, as we know it, is not only the symbol of our country.

The symbol was used for many years as a "magical" sign in various religions and cults.
Just like the five-edged star we all know as "satanic" - it was originally, I think, used as an energy barriee/ energy gatherer. Magic stuff.
And if I'm not mistaken, in the kabbala MagenDavid is also considered mystical.

p.s.
I agree with you : it is nice work.
