I have just finished reading the first Issue/Volume of Ravine and I think it is an amazing comic. I would recommend it to anyone that has a love for a gripping fantasy story.
I do however have some bad points but only two..... and they are,
Bad point One,
the beautiful art work is sometimes ruined by other areas were it seemed a bit rushed, by this I mean the page where the king is looking out to Damanul's Spire, you will see what I mean (if you buy the comic and I hope you do because its great). Also the bottom frame looks great but is ruined by the lack of detail on the dragon sign.
Bad point Two,
In Chapter one The Wonderers Call, there is a wording mistake the confused the hell out of me. ''You're still determined to do this today, ENOUGH though I couldn't get you a border pass''. the mistake is in caps, if its not a mistake then I apologise to the writer. but I do think it was meant to be ''You're still determined to do this today, EVEN though I couldn't get you a border pass''.
All in all an amazing comic book and cannot wait for the next one. 8/10
O and I know there is probably some wording mistake of my own on this post but I don't write comic books (yet).
when i noticed that spread i facepalmed so hard i hard a palmprint on my head for most of the day...i am a 7 year veteran in the comic industry, this is basic level shit XD i should be above such noobish mistakes...and yet..there it is XD
Just picked up Vol. 1 this morning. About 20 pages into it and so far its great! Question..... how satisfying is it to see 11 years of hard work become a reality? I read that you changed the art work/story line over the years, is there anything at this stage that you regret or are glad that you did or did not change?
how satisfying?...it is indescribable. only those who have experienced it can relate to it, it is that deeply satisfying.
regrets?, none, this only gets faaar better as it moves along and the readers become fluent in the language of the world. like any true fantasy there is no obvious reader proxy, and it requires attention, it requires the reader to overcome that first aversive stage of learning tons of new names and new terms, but like any good fantasy, it rewards the effort greatly in the long run
That's great. Congrats on that! Been going through a 4 year process on a story that I have been trying to put together myself. Far cry from 11 years, but you get the point. Hopefully I can put it down at some point. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hoozah! I was thrilled to find your first volume at a nearby comic book shop not too long as I've been waiting what seems to be forever for it (although your wait for everything is actually been forever ) and I absolutely love your story telling and the art matches perfectly. All the characters are brilliantly designed and the environments are thrilling and immersible. The legends (stories before the current one) are excellently executed and I really cannot wait to see the second volume.
As well, is there any way to purchase a signed volume? I'd love to have one.
